I heard the song Gold by Wake Owl back in the summer months, long before I graced the blogging world with my effervescent presence. It was one of countless jams that made me think, “Man, if only I had a blog, I could tell people about this beauty.” Guess what? I have a blog now and I’m going to tell you about a wonderful remix of the song that came out yesterday. Noah Hyde, who also goes by the alias Magic Sword (because uh, why wouldn’t he?), has been pumping out some serious remix fire in the past year and he garnered a lot of attention for his Youth Lagoon and Purity Ring remixes. Now, this Boise remix artist took on Vancouver folk outfit Wake Owl’s buzz-worthy single; he made Colyn Cameron’s beautiful vocals all synthy, added a heavy beat, and the results are simply platinum…palladium? Nah, that doesn’t have the same ring to it. This track is GOLD. The original song is the first single off of Wake Owl’s upcoming EP Wild Country set to be released on January 29th. A big thank you to Noah Hyde/Magic Sword, the remix is perfect and it allows me to talk about a song that I loved before I had a way to share it with the world.
I don’t feel like I’m falling, I’m up against the sky,
I said I’d taken it all in to make the good life
