You’re telling me that I promised you a ten song playlist every single week!?  “OOPS, DID I DO THAT?“, said in my best high-pitched, nasally Urkle voice. That’s a tall order, but a promise is a promise so Wait And Scene will deliver.

Unfortunately, I don’t have any CHEESE (obscure Family Matters reference), but I do have ten of the illest tracks from around the world!

1) Ryan Hemsworth Remix of Mikky Ekko- Pull Me Down

When the song Pull Me Down by Nashville singer-songwriter Mikky Ekko came out a month ago, I will couldn’t stop listening. His voice! Those lyrics! Produced by the ever amazing Clams Casino! It was all too much. Today we got a remix of this beautiful song by 21-year-old Canadian producer, Ryan Hemsworth. As he often does when he remixes, Hemsworth somehow manages to make this song even more special. I’m dying over here…

2) Brandon Fletcher – North Hollywood

Brandon Fletcher is a name that you probably don’t know now but I have a feeling you will pretty soon… This Harlem-based rapper released a dope seven song EP called Braille back in October and he gave us a taste of this song on that EP. This week, the entire new track called North Hollywood was released and it didn’t disappoint. The Pretty Woman intro and Dave Chappelle sample halfway through are killer. This song is about a girl from Miami who’s struggling to live the Hollywood lifestyle. Is it a totally far-fetched story that no one can relate to? Naw, I’m sure you’ve seen this once or a hundred times in the media…one good current example (and the picture that Brandon used as a visual for this single) rhymes with dinsey mohan.  REPEAT.

Ultraista is the electronic pop project of long-term Radiohead collaborator and producer Nigel Godrich, vocalist Laura Bettinson, and producer/drummer Joey Waronker of Beck, Elliott Smith, and R.E.M. fame. This trio is known for beautiful, lofty vocals and a unique production style that’s heavy on the synth with a precise, ever-changing rhythm that only Godrich can pull off. London electronic duo Maribou State took on Gold Dayzz and added their dark house beats to the already amazing original. It’s perfect! This remix makes me want to choreograph a modern dance number about a town that is on fire that can only be extinguished with dance; imagine all the inner turmoil I could portray through movement, not to mention the costumes! Oh, the costumes!  I’ll invite you all to opening night…

The whole town is burnin’… burnin’… burnin’

How to Dress Well sounds like the title of a fashion blog that I would totally read…In reality, it’s the stage name of Tom Krell, a bad-ass experimental producer and singer known for a his unique, ethereal sound. I’ve been following this guy for a minute now;  In the past couple of years, his debut album Love Remains (cop this) and his sophomore album Total Loss (cop that) have both received a lot of buzz in the blogosphere and, as a result, his songs have been recipients of some pretty sweet remixes. Cold Nites, the second track off the Total Loss album, has already been remixed by Koreless and Pete Swanson but the most recent treatment of this song by English singer-songwriter Charli XCX has to be my favorite of the three. Charli XCX adds angry talk-rapping and pretty vocals to this haunting track and really makes it her own.

This is one of eight songs off of her recently dropped Super Ultra mixtape. Regarding this mixtape, Charli said:

I don’t want people to be sad when they listen to Super Ultra… I want them to be happy, and I want them to dance. No one dances in this town anymore.

Amen, Charli.
