Ill artist alert! Ill artist alert! *said in the voice of 2 Chainz*

Let me start off saying that I was really bummed to find out that the group Pacific Air is no more. These brothers were a killer band and they put on an awesome live show the one time I was fortunate to see them. My best friend and I made sure to check them out during our crazy SXSW rounds two years ago. At their show at The Mohawk, I was standing next to a music blogger and we started talking about our love of Pacific Air.

I was like, “Yeah, I was a fan of these guys when they put out their EP and were still called KOKO!”

and he’s all, “Holy $#!+ ME TOO! That’s crazy, no one else knows that stuff.”

and his girlfriend was like, “Hey guys, I’m here too you know…”

And I’m all, “Get on your boyfriend’s level and maybe you can keep up.”

Oh snap! That’s cold.

Fine, I’m actually a nice girl. That last part with the girlfriend didn’t happen but I could sense her ‘tude and hear her sighs as her boyfriend and I geeked out on good music. Here’s hoping that blogger and his girlfriend know that the now defunct Pacific Air’s lead singer, Ryan Lawhon, has a solo project and he has put out these two perfect tracks for our listening pleasure.

BOTH SO GOOD. I can’t wait to hear more,

Xo

Remember that one time when I had a blog?…I do I do!

Life has been crazy and it stresses me out to think of all the things I wanted to share with you but didn’t get a chance to…that’s all in the past though because I’m back, baybaaay! Wait And Scene will only get better from here. PROMISE. Since we last “spoke”, I went to SXSW in Austin for ten days and had the time of my life! The music bender that is SouthBy gave me such a feeling of bliss that I refuse to ever not be in Austin on that week in March from this year on. Just don’t tell my boss, kay? Next week I’ll be sharing my super excluse SXSW intel with y’all…so so EXCLUSE that it’ll be worth the wait.

For now, let’s talk new music:

Back in November, I included Vondelpark’s track Dracula on my playlist. Remember when I used to do those?…man, I’m really falling apart. Check out how awesome I used to be here.

Today their album, Seabed, is finally available digitally (cop that) and it will be available physically on April 2nd. Thanks to Pitchfork Advance the whole album is streaming here. It is so beautiful and today it’s helping me get through a crap load of paperwork for my job. Vondelpark are somehow making this task of staying inside on this perfect Portland day to scorch my lap with my burning up old laptop (don’t ask) a lot more pleasant and that, my friends, is a real feat.

A little info. Vondelpark is a public urban park of in Amsterdam, Netherlands with an open air theatre, a playground….oh, not the info you were looking for? Vondelpark are an R&B, ethereal, smooth, cloudy, warped, fluid, dark, dreamy (adjectives for days!) electronica three-piece from London. The group is comprised of singer, plays-every-instrument-you-can-think-of, producer-guy Lewis Rainsbury, keyboardist Matt Law, and guitarist/bassist Alex Bailey. These guys are really young and relatively new to the game but they sound like a band that has been doing this together for years and years. They’ve taken their sweet-ass time putting out an album; throwing us a couple of EPs in 2010 and 2011 and then falling off the map for two years, but Seabed was worth the wait. I feel like each Vondelpark release has been better than the last. What do you guys think? Are you feeling this dreamy music goodness like me?

Here’s an Easter treat waaaay better than those creepy Cadbury Creme Eggs people are so into this time of year.

Vondelpark – Seabed (Album Stream)

ENJOY.

A.Dd+ – Suitcases

11-20-2012

In the past four years, the Dallas, TX rap scene has brought us an interesting mix of artists.  On one hand, we have “talent” like the GS Boyz known for being the creators of every white girl’s favorite dance moves the Booty Dew and the Stanky Legg. I certainly can’t think of any other moves that allow me to lean wit it and drop wit it quite like the BD and SL but let’s be real, these guys were never going to change the rap game. Around that same time, some true Texas talent emerged on the scene. Paris Pershun and Slim Gravy are an up-and-coming rap duo better known as A.Dd+. They have been dropping mixtapes since 2009 but they received mainstream media props in 2011 when they released their debut LP, When Pigs Fly, which is produced entirely by Dallas producer, Picnictyme. A few days ago, they finally dropped a track off their upcoming release, DiveHiFlyLo: The Mixtape, which is also produced  by their go-to, Picnictyme. Suitcases has that old-school rap sound with a simplistic beat and repetitive, sythy keyboard sounds. It’s another A.Dd+ banger!

Word on the web is that these guys killed at SXSW last year so I’m hoping they’re back at it again this year. Wait And Scene is going to “pack it up” can give you that new news straight from downtown Austin!
