New year, new blog post, more new music, and the same old weirdo bringing it all to you. I hope you had a wonderful holiday and missed me during my fortnight off gallivanting around California. I love the golden state with all of its sunny beaches, beautiful humans, celebs, amazing shopping, colorful sunsets, Disneyland magic, cheap tacos, and TRAFFIC. ALL OF THE TRAFFIC. EVERY DAMN DAY. ALL DAY LONG. Even talking about it stresses me out and I wasn’t driving slash slept through most of it and woke up when we reached our destinations hours later. Shout outs to my chauffeurs for keeping it 1hunid!. Anyways, I’m rested (thanks to a myriad of car naps) and I’m feeling happy back home in my fav the beaver state. I’m excited to bring you a new playlist of ten tracks I’ve liked this past week…or maybe three weeks, whatever, who’s counting? She’s back, folks.

HAPPY 2016!!

P.s. The first track on this playlist isn’t new but by now you should know I’m really into NoMBe and it seemed fitting with my past two weeks in Cali. Plus, the very end of that track…Daaaaang. Repeat.

To be honest, she’s a liar full of promise

She thinks her Rolex makes her timeless

Her famous friends think she’s harmless

I’d burn the bridge with her on it

P.p.s. Total tangent but did you know that the original voices of Mickey and Minnie Mouse were married in real life? If that doesn’t make you happy, you’re officially a lost cause. Feel free to use that fact to impress someone at the next party; You can thank me when you score the digits like, “Hey guuuurl, you like Disney facts?” Not at all creepy.

Have you guys noticed that so many seemingly unknown artists are releasing fire covers lately? I’ve definitely taken note and I’ve been peppering my favs into these playlists. Earlier this week, I was passively listening to my S-cloud feed and all of a sudden I’m like, “Hmm how do I know all the lyrics to this song? Wait, a girl named Billie Jean may or may not be this guy’s lover? I know this!”

You can’t deny that the above picture of the King of Pop is amazing for a couple key reasons: First, Michael’s resting bitch face is on point and that judging glaze can follow you around a room; Second, Bubbles the chimp has solid I woke up like dis hair and that pose leads me to believe he was all, “I’m just casually hanging out here waiting for some Jesus juice but if you want to take my picture, I’m cool with it.” Heh. Too soon?

Did anyone else forget that Michael had a chimp BFF in the 80s? Life was wiiild back in those days!…or so I’ve heard. I’m much too young to know what anything was like before the late 90s *wink*. This is one of those instances when I wish the lie WOULD become the truth; You know, like Michael’s mom always told him…

And mother always told me be careful of who you love
And be careful of what you do ’cause the lie becomes the truth

I’ll see myself out.

I think I might be one of a select group of eccentric humans who was alternating listening to new albums from Adele, Jadakiss, and Justin Bieber on a very steady, and sonically bizarre, rotation this week.

Even if Adele doesn’t sing your preferred music, I hope you won’t deny that she is a damn angel; she’s hilarious, beautiful, and so insanely talented. The album consists of eleven stunning tracks containing lyrical wisdom well beyond her 27 years and, though this experiment has yet to be conducted, I’m positive her voice could make the toughest Guantanamo Bay inmates cry real tears. Last Saturday, SNL showed us what her track ‘Hello’ can do to calm nerves at an offensive and racist family thanksgiving dinner so I’d imagine that’s basically like hard time.

No stranger to a lil’ jail time, Jadakiss “ahhhHHAAAAA” is back with another banger. Heavy with tracks about drugs, guns, and all sorts of nefarious activities that I fully understand due to an upbringing in the murder capital of Canada…JOKES! My upbringing in the ‘burbs was lovely and far from rough but binge watching The Wire many many years back taught me some real things about the cold, hard streets. In the words of ‘ye talking about his own music, “These beats are DOPE!” and I’m all about dem fire beats.

Lastly, my transition into a full-blown Belieber is very new and I’m still adjusting to this strange world. I could do without his current Zack Morris hair and I did NOT need to see his banana sans a hammock in Bora Bora a few weeks back (THANKS, TWITTER) but this is the world we live in, I guess? Despite these minor transgressions, I actually find him likable now and this album is just so catchy that I keep coming back to it. Is it too late now to say sooooorry…for hating you all these yeaaaars? I think that’s how the lyrics go. Loving Justin Bieber is the new hating Justin Bieber in 2015/2016 so get on my level and almost every teenage girl’s very audible level.

Buy or stream these three aforementioned albums, then listen to these ten songs I enjoy that you may not have heard this week.

P.s. That Hotline Bling cover seemed to be a big hit last week so I included the first Donna Missal track I ever heard on this week’s playlist. Enjoy!

I imagine that you all clicked on this post because you thought, “Oooo what guy? Is she interested in someone? How exciting! Wait, what about the above picture? Maybe he hurt her feelings?” Well boy did I fool you because there is NO ONE making or breaking my heart… but I do appreciate your optimism and subsequent sympathy. #foreveralone

This particular playlist is actually dedicated to a random old man I walked by on the street the other day. Hey don’t make it weird, this man was in his late 70s. He was strutting (at a snail’s pace, mind you) while rocking the same badass black leather moto jacket that I was wearing at that very moment!!!…only a much cooler vintage version with just enough patina for me to imagine what it must’ve looked like in its prime. I’m sure that jacket and its wearer had a lot of fun in their wild youth and this chance run-in on the streets of small town Oregon gave me hope that badassery doesn’t have to fade with age. I truly hope that I can be that granny still wearing all of the leather even when sans-a-belt pants and velcro shoes are a lifestyle necessity. About fifty years from now someone better tell Ethel and Bertha to spruce up their retirement home jawnery because I’m going to have moves that Del Boca Vista won’t be ready for.

Now that you know the story, I’m sure you’ll all agree that my “play on playa” head nod just wasn’t enough street style recognition so this playlist is dedicated to that guy and his rad leather jacket.

P.s. A lot of amazing more mainstream tracks also came out this week but I like to give you the tracks you may not have heard elsewhere. If you haven’t heard them yet, go check out the hot new tracks from Lykke Li and A$AP, Robyn and Röyksopp, Twin Shadow, and the new album from Iggy Azalea…or you could just follow my SoundCloud and see Wait And Scene like and re-post all these tracks as they happen!

R. Kells is right, I’m ’bout to have me some fun.

So it’s the second weekend in April and I’m not at Coachella but that’s okay, Vice told me that basic b*tches love Coachella and I have a bad b*tch reputation to uphold. Also, even the nighttime weather in Indio isn’t appropriate for leather so what’s the point really?

Oregon has been pretending to be Cali this whole week and no one is complaining. It’s been 70+ degrees and sunny everyday so I’ve been overwhelmingly happy. I’ve been wearing less black on black, my penchant for witch trap has all but vanished ($T▲Y Ha†in’), and these positive vibes have allowed me to discover so many quality tracks this week. I’m going to keep this entry hella short so I can get back outside but feel free to listen to these tracks on repeat while you enjoy this beautiful weekend and quite possibly pop cristal in the stretch navigator.

Bounce bounce bounce.
